CMPO's announcement of 07/03/2014

March 7, 2014

At 13:00 hrs. Mr.Tharit Pengdit, Director General, Department of Special Investigation, briefed the press on the outcome of the meeting of the Center For Maintaining Peace and Order (CMPO).

1. Following the Civil Court's ruling indicating that the demonstrations of the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) at the PTT Public Company and the Ministry of Energy was against the law, the Court  has also ordered the protesters to clear the way at the venue and also to move all equipments from the site.

2. The CMPO condemned the PDRC leaders that had led the crowd to blockade several embassies in Bangkok; China, the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, and Australia. Especially at the US Embassy, the protesters even called for the replacement of the US Ambassador. These actions have not only violated the law of protecting foreign representatives in the country but also affected the relations between Thailand and the US.

3. The CMPO has received a report that 2 innocent people was shot. It was believed that bullets were fired from the Lumpini Park where the PDRC demonstrations located. The incident was in line with the CMPO's warning that the protest sites are dangerous areas. The CMPO wished to encourage the public to not join or pass the protest areas because it could be harmful as same as the case of Mr.Yuem Nillar and the case that 2 bodies were found near the protest sites.
